5th Annual Red Dress 5K

Race Director's Report

Forty five finely frocked runners turned out for the 5th annual Red Dress Run. Despite the heat and humidity, some even donned long-sleeved prom gowns! Brave souls. Real men and women all. Winners received the first ever Red Dress Run t-shirts, designed by Karen and Brendan. Brendan did the ironing for the iron-on decals, which seemed appropriate for such an event!

We collected $226 to go to the Crime Victims Assistance Center.

Our winners were:

• First Frock Male-- a tie-- Jason Casey/Mark Russin
• First Frock Female-- Diane Matthews
• Finest Frock-- Andy Allstandt (he pulled it all together with grace and elegance..resplendent in red)
• Miss Congeniality-- Diane Sherrer
• Most Creative Coiffure-- Paul Greenberg (a cute rose head band). Paul was seen wringing out his dress after the race..
• Best Butt- Ray Brooks (a tight tie dye number accentuated his assets)
• Male Most In Touch with Himself- Pete Nichols (truly went "all out" with red bra, sparkly undies, fish net stockings and matching accessories..wow)
• Greatest Gams- Dave Buchta (this might be the third time he's won this award)
• Most Cleverly Coordinated Ensemble-- George Groome (former Finest Frock winner, we all know George really knows how to throw together a hot number)

Thanks to Mary Ann Thompson for help with the judging. Thanks also to Fran Fitch who helped with registration and the finish line. Thanks to Grace and Suzanne for helping with directions (we'll try to remember the course map next year!)..and thanks to anyone I may not have included here. I know there were others who lent their support. This event is a blast, and I am amazed every year at the turnout and enthusiasm for the run. Running on to Hooper road with the cars honking and startling the quiet neighborhood in Endwell is always fun.. Everyone's creativity is much appreciated. THANK YOU!
